The Bride and Groom
The Bride & Groom: (Little bit about you guys, how you met perhaps, etc.) - Michael and I are both from Newfoundland but have made Alberta our home, We have been together 4 years. We met each other in Newfoundland during thank giving weekend, his sister hooked us up! People joke that we have an arranged marriage Lolol. We try to visit Nl once a year because that province means so much to us, seeing our friends and family is worth the trip. Which is why we chose to get married home ( we had a destination wedding in Canada lol ). We’re a pretty laid back Couple. Michael works out of town, when he’s home we love going to hockey games ( LETS GO OILERS! ), spending time with our friends and family. We like to head to the Banff every chance we get, the mountains are extraordinary. Oh and we Spend a lot of time with our 2 cats Ava & Hank!
Planning Your Wedding
How long did it take you to plan your wedding? We got engaged in late July of 2017 and I started like 2 days after lol, (CRAZY). I had Lesters farmed booked in August. So planning in total took about 13 months.
Newfoundland Wedding Vendor Reviews
Lesters Farms Chalet : I used to have my work Christmas parties there and the food was always delicious, I knew that they were a laid back venue, there was no issues with drinks or smokes on the patio and deck, which is convenient because it happened to rain on the wedding day so our guests weren’t wet they wanted to jump outside. Of course they have rules and expectations but its a comfortable environment. It was big enough for our crowd we had intended to invite. Really, we were planning our wedding from away which naturally has its challenges so my choices were really based on what I knew before I moved away.
Videographer: SimpleLove WeddingFilms - Jonathan was incredible, and Jim and Jonathan really took initiative and jumped on board to work together to make everything come together. Great Duo!
Brides favourite moment : Such a hard question, I don’t think I can pick just one. You know our first look was a great way to start the adventure of the day, it really put a little pep in our step to have that time to soak each other in before things got crazy. Our ceremony, the party. Oh my gosh I could go on and on. This is an impossible question Jim!! To be honest I think my favourite parts were the individual moments that I had with our friends and family, that were private conversations that were full of love and support. This whole wedding journey left me feeling so full of gratitude, its hard to put into words. It was very memorable day for us!
Grooms favourite moment: Michaels favourite moment was the first look. He said “it was a very emotional part of the day, I was so nervous and excited. It really hit home that we’re getting married later that afternoon, I was so happy."
Advice to couples currently planning their wedding : Listen to each other! Also future husbands listen to your future wives lol, there was a few things Michael didn’t think was necessary (first look lol) but at the end of the day that was his favourite part, he loved having that moment.. but listen to him as well! Michael had some great suggestions that I didn’t think was necessary but I ended up loving it, the photo booth for example. It was so fun! Decide on what’s important to both of you and work within your budget but don’t sacrifice! Planning a wedding, believe it or not takes a village. We had soooo much help but don’t forget to let everyone know how thankful you are for there time & money they spent for you! You only get married once. Don’t let all the wedding hoohas take away from the fact that you are committing to marriage with your partner and that’s the most important part. Enjoy it, it fly’s!
