A note from The Bride & Groom

We met in 2009 in high school. We dated briefly and became each other's family favourites but went our separate ways. After I moved to St. John's to attend MUN, we ended up dating the second time (despite numerous earlier attempts by Seamus). After countless movie dates, Sunday takeouts and holidays spent together, we tied the knot this past summer.

How long did it take you to plan your wedding? We got engaged in November 2017. We wanted a Summer wedding and decided on August 2019 to give ourselves lots of time. We found the first few months were quite busy booking all of our vendors but then we took a break until the few months before our wedding day to finalize all of the details.

Newfoundland Wedding Vendor Reviews

Dress: I bought my dress at Créations Vézina in Laval, Quebec. They came highly recommended so I made an appointment while we were in Montreal to attend a wedding. It was the first (and only) store I went to. I actually purchased the first dress I tried on. The shopping experience they provide for brides-to-be is amazing!

Suit: Seamus purchased a custom suit from Moores in St. John's. The groomsmen also rented their suits from here. The staff (especially Jenna) was very easy to work with. They even hooked Seamus' father up with a new suit ON our wedding day when he realized the one he had planned to wear didn't fit him properly.

Reception: The Capital Hotel was our reception venue. They went above and beyond for every little detail and were so great to work with - especially Danielle, our day-of-coordinator!

Décor: Lacy Boland from Lacy Rose Design was our decorator. I first worked with Lacy planning my Grad Gala when I graduated from MUN and knew I wanted her to decorate for my wedding as well. She was a dream to work with and everything looked wonderful.

Photographer: JP Mullowney Photography. We came across Jim's work online while trying to decide on a venue. After scrolling through countless photos, we knew he was the photographer we wanted to capture our day. We could not be happier with our choice as Jim is not only amazing at what he does, but is a great person as well.

Flowers: Our centrepieces were from Paradise Flowers and suited the decor very well. Mine and my bridesmaid's bouquets were purchased secondhand but originally came from All Events.

Music/Sound: Music and sound at the reception were provided by the Aldermen. The boys made sure all fan favourites were covered and played everything from Springsteen to Ed Sheeran. They kept our guests (and us) on the dance floor all night.

Make-up: Color Me Bronze. Sayer and Susan from Colour me Bronze made all of the girls look stunning. The makeup lasted through all of the tears that were shed during the day.

Hair: Mobile Hair by Allison. Allison is so quick and did an amazing job with everyone's hair.

Brides Favourite Moment: The hour or so we spent on the O'Reilly's deck with our bridal party was one of my favourite parts of the day. It gave us all a chance to relax, have a couple drinks, and laugh with each other.

Grooms Favourite Moment: A couple come to mind. First, flagging down a Mary Brown's car mid-photo for some free Big Marys. Second, dancing to the Aldermen's cover of You Make My Dreams by Hall and Oates with my new wife (go Leafs go).

Advice to couples currently planning their wedding: Don't stress!! Everything will work out the day of. Also make sure to take some time during the day to relax and have fun because it goes by so quick
