Bally Haly Wedding - Renee + Steve // St. John's Wedding Photography

Renee + Steve's wedding was held at Cochrane Street United Church and Bally Haly here in St. John's. Spending the day with these two was a ton of fun and we had a lot of laughs. Many of those laughs have something to do with monkey's and a dishwasher - haha (inside joke for the wedding party). More information about their vendors and day from the Bride + Groom themselves below!

ABOUT THE Bride and Groom:

Stephen and I were friends since grade 7. We lived a few houses away from each other and we spent grade 7 to roughly grade 12 hanging out with the same friends. We ran into each other back in 2005 on good old George Street, I stopped him to say hello and he had no idea who I was. I guess I changed a lot, lol. We have been together ever since that night. We have two beautiful boys and last August we went on our first trip together and he finally proposed. We were married the following August after 12 years together.

It only took us a year to plan, I knew I wanted to be married within the year. The most stressful were the first few weeks of planning just making sure all the vendors I wanted were all available on the same day.

The Couple's Favourite wedding moments:

Bride's favourite moment - was walking down the aisle when I saw my groom. All the nerves I was feeling that morning went out the window when we locked eyes.

Grooms favourite moment - I have two favourite moments from that day. Seeing my two beautiful boys they were the best ring bearers and my beautiful bride when I first saw her walk towards me. I knew I was one lucky guy. Also the morning of, I'm a big Back to the Future fan and I have always wanted to see a Delorean. Renee tracked down the one owner here in the province and he showed up the morning of with the car. It was an amazing surprise.

Wedding Planning Advice:

It's true what everyone says that the day is over before you know it. So don't stress about the little things that no one would even notice except yourself. Take a moment in the morning by yourself before the hustle and the bustle and just have coffee and breathe before it all begins. Advice for the bride that was given to me about being a ball of nerves. When the doors open and it's my turn to walk down the aisle, don't look at everyone else just lock eyes with your groom and you will feel instant relief and the nerves will be gone. Then you will be able to take a look around at all your loved ones that have come to see you exchange vows. Believe it or not, this actually worked for me. But not until I was half way down the aisle as I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't lock eyes with Steve since he was a blur, haha.

Wedding Vendor Reviews:

Makeup - Beauty by Mary Lou - Mary Lou Legault, Mary Lou is a doll!!!! Everyone loved their makeup and it lasted all day. I couldn't believe it we only had to touch up a bit of lipstick and that was all. Everyone was very natural looking and beautiful.

Hair - Event Hair NL - I couldn't be happier with my hair, it stayed in all day. My veil and my clip, which had a bit of weight to it, didn't move all day. All the girls loved their hair, everyone had a different style and all were beautiful. Everyone's hair was the same at the end of the night as when they first had it done.

Alterations - Rodney Philpott, I can not say enough nice things about Rodney and Christopher. I loved my dress when I bought it and I fell in love even more after Rodney got his hands on it. My dress was a few sizes too big for me and when he was done the dress fit me as if it was made for me. Christopher is an absolute sweetheart and the nicest person to deal with, you immediately feel like friends from the minute you walk into the studio. If anyone is thinking about booking them, don't hesitate you will not be disappointed.

Cake - Picco's Creations - Pam Picco, I am still getting compliments on how delicious the cake was and not to mention the beautiful job she had done. There was so much detail put into the flowers on the cake that it looked too good to eat. I had 3 different flavours for my cake, red velvet, blueberry and chocolate all 3 were amazing but the blueberry seemed to be everyone's favourite.

Venue - Bally Haly, very beautiful venue to hold a special event. The food was amazing!!!!! Everyone was saying how delicious the meal was and it was served hot. We also had poutine as the midnight snack which was a big hit.

Decor/Floral - By Sharpe Design, There are no words to describe the amazing work that Sue Sharpe and her team can do. I went in with a few ideas on what I had in mind for my decor and my floral and they went above and beyond. When I walked into the venue I almost cried, it was so beautiful and even better than I had imagined. I never once felt stressed with my decor or my floral, Sue and her team put so much detail into their work, they are awesome to deal with. The bouquets and centre pieces were stunning and exactly what I had envisioned.

Gold Chivalry Chairs - Martha Coffey, only spoke to Martha by email, she is very pleasant to deal with and they made the room very elegant looking.

Transportation - Atlantic Wave Limo - I lucked into booking them 2 weeks out as I ran into an issue with the limo company I originally had booked. They are very responsive to messages and absolutely pleasant to deal with. The limo was very clean, they had little treats and napkins in my wedding colour, it was such a nice touch. The limo driver was very sweet, helped me in and out of the car every time and was such a gentlemen.

Videography - Phonse King from Kings Photography, I had Phonse booked for the day to do my video and I also had a photo booth rented from him as well. Right from the beginning, Phonse was a pleasure to deal with, I didn't even realize he was there half the time getting video. You will definitely not feel like you have someone following you around with a video camera. The photo booth was a major hit!!!! Our guests are still talking about it. We also got a USB stick at the end of the night of everyone's photos. It's a nice keep sake to have and we loved looking back at everyone being foolish.

Photography - JP Mullowney - Jim was recommended to us and I knew that I wanted him to do our photos the minute I looked at his website. One photo, in particular, he had done a couple out in Quidi Vidi really sold me. I knew I wanted to have the same picture done and I did. He also did our engagement photos which are a nice ice breaker before the big day. I was very nervous getting them done but within the first 5 minutes that went away and I knew right away I would be very comfortable with Jim on my big day.

Music - Eric Newman was our DJ for the night, everyone loved the music he had going all night. I don't remember the dance floor being empty.
